THE LAKELY CLAN are a hard working, good-natured family that have recently run into a fortune after having their ancestral homestead purchased for an outrageous sum by the large railroad company EMPIRE RAIL.
Patriarch AMOS LAKELY has a grand plan to pick up his family and move from the rural (some would say "Backwoods") farmlands of JAWBONE, KENTUCKY to the ever-expanding boomtown of SPIRAL CITY, OKLAHOMA.
The Lakely's are a good, decent brood, if not a bit naive and simple. Their newfound fortune makes them an ample target for all sorts of mischief, and brave heroes will be needed to keep them out of peril during their travels.
Player characters will take the role of some kind of friend of the Family, whether that be a paid associate, hired gun, or even a blood relative. Whatever you decide to play, your character should have the Lakely's best interests in mind as they traverse the Weird West and settle down in their strange, dangerous new home. They'll need all the help they can get!
CHARACTER CREATION AND HOUSE RULES
-Any Character type can be chosen for use from the DEADLANDS core book or DEADLANDS COMPANION. To keep the party balanced and varied, no two Player characters can choose the same Arcane Background. A party of three Hucksters would make me very sad, etc.
-Create your Hombre using the character creation rules on page 13 of the DEADLANDS core book. Also, since you're such a rough and tumble sort, you get 6 Attribute points instead of 5. Lucky you.
-House Rule (Languages): Your character knows how to read, write and speak a number of languages equal to half their Smarts die. One of these languages must be their native tongue, and one of these languages must be English.
-House Rule (Wounds): No matter how high a damage roll is, a Wild Card character will only suffer 1 Wound at a time from a single attack.
